Gun control DownUnder - 6 shot dead

Glenn Reynolds, founder and lead blogger of Instapundit links often to a guy who runs the site The Truth about Guns. One of those truths that used to be on NRA bumper stickers and used to be laughed at by the ctrl-left was "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns."

This one makes perfect sense and was just borne out by yet another example, this time from Australia. There was a mass shooting in Port Arthur,Tasmania in April 1996 that "inspired", on could say, the Central Government there to impose massive gun control. Wiki tells us a bunch of details, but the gist of it is:
A person must have a firearm licence to possess or use a firearm. Licence holders must demonstrate a "genuine reason" (which does not include self-defence) for holding a firearm licence[2] and must not be a "prohibited person". All firearms must be registered by serial number to the owner, who must also hold a firearms licence.
[My bolding]
If self-defense is no good reason, I guess "revolting against a tyrannical central government" is completely out of the question then, right, blokes?

It'd seem unpossible for 6 Australians to get shot by a gunman, wouldn't it? The Truth about Guns's John Boch used that adjective for this case, in which:
Despite that massive gun confiscation of almost all firearms, not just “weapons of mass murder,” six people were shot to death, including two young police officers in a stand-off Monday evening.

One of the suspects was a former school principal named Nathaniel Train. Police ended up shooting and killing him, his brother and his sister-in-law. The police are tight-lipped about how the trio secured their weapons and ammunition, most long banned in Oz.
The New York Post gave these details:
Six people, including two cops, were killed in an hourslong standoff in a remote area of Australia on Monday night.

Four officers from the Tara Police Station had arrived to a property in rural Wieambilla in Queensland around 4:45 p.m. to investigate a report of a missing person, Queensland Police confirmed early Tuesday.

Constables Matthew Arnold, 26, and Rachel McCrow, 29, were shot and killed as they approached the address, authorities said. A third officer was injured.

The shooting gave way to six-hour siege, during which the suspects killed neighbor Alan Sure, 58, who came over to investigate the commotion, officials said.
I feel sorry for them and the neighbor, but guess the 2 young Constables, pictured above, did not understand the idea on those bumper stickers.

PS: Sam J. Thanks for the interesting comment on the back story and your speculation of what may be behind it. Yes, Australia was extremely authoritarian during the PanicFest. You always wonder why people take it out on the wrong guys (and lady, this time), but it's hard to think under pressure.

"...The point is the bad guys will often get the guns to do their criminal acts..."

I got that immediately. I didn't say anything about it because it's obvious. My point was that there is something they are not telling us. I looked up this guy and people said about him,

"...He worked at northern Queensland primary schools Yorkeys Knob State School and Innisfail East State School, as well as Walgett Community College Primary School in NSW, according to information online.

All three schools in rural locations are known for having children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In 2017, local newspaper Cairns Post reported “mild-mannered” Train had his distinctive beard decorated with glitter and baubles to raise money for the Yorkeys Knob school’s Parents and Citizens’ association...The article noted under Train’s leadership, Innisfail East was one of a few disadvantaged schools where NAPLAN results in literacy and numeracy were in the top half of the nation..."

Something is wrong with this picture. Now stalkers in the US are known to harass people who are gifted, or smart or good people. Supposedly, people theorize, to demoralize them and maybe get them to do what he did. Get fed up and blast someone. That's why I said what I did. People do this all time in US. The people stalking them piss them off so bad, they start killing them. In many cases people in authority, like these cops, get caught in the crossfire because the stalked assume they know about it. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. That the next door neighbor was shot even raises that possibility higher. Most of the time they are harassing people they move stalkers in next to them. And this guy lived way out there, didn't he? What was this guy next door doing to him?

You've got to admit that school teachers, especially ones very well liked that move up to important jobs AND are lauded for doing excellent jobs are not likely to be mass shooters.

Maybe you think I’m nuts but I believe,

https://www.anonymousconservative.com/blog/

that there's a very large population of people that stalk, harasses and torment people, sometimes for the murkiest of reasons. They have been caught doing this on occasion and have had to pay restitution to the people they were stalking.

There are videos on the net by many different people who have recorded this, and there's no doubt people are stalking them. Many times, actresses who cause problems for various Hollywood industry types are complaining about this. There's a lot of this. There's a huge amount of evidence from all sorts of people about this but, you'll never hear about on the news. They always say someone just all of sudden went nuts.

The neighbor Allen Dare

"...Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced on Thursday the state government will contribute to funeral costs, while Dare’s family will also be presented with the Queensland Police Bravery Medal..."

WTF...why are they giving him a police bravery medal? Why are they paying his funeral cost. I mean he supposedly just got randomly shot. It says he was checking on a fire. WHAT. Why s he on his neighbors' property when shooting is going on, checking on a fire? It's all so stupid. All so fake. All so mindless. It makes no sense.

"...The 58-year-old was killed last week when he was gunned down by his neighbours as he went to their Wieambilla property to check on a fire...."

https://7news.com.au/news/qld/daughter-of-neighbour-killed-in-queensland-shooting-breaks-silence-hours-before-funeral-c-9252949

Here's it says,

"...The heartbroken widow of the neighbour who went to investigate sounds of gunfire has revealed her husband's final words before he was murdered by the Train family..."

Again, WTF was he doing going over to see about the gunfire. Now maybe he would but he was shot with the police. So he was with them. Why? Why didn't he get down if he heard gunfire? More stupidity.

https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/devastated-wife-of-alan-dare-reveals-final-words-he-uttered-before-he-was-killed-while-rushing-to-investigate-sound-of-gunfire/news-story/b9ac0d0819b4982610b653217b19797a

The 58-year-old was killed last week when he was gunned down by his neighbors as he went to their Wieambilla property to check on a fire.

"...The president of the Queensland police union, Ian Leavers, wrote to members overnight saying the killings were “needless” and “senseless”..."

That's right, exactly, and in fact that means that there's something they are not telling us. The "former" principal refused to get vaxed, so they fired him. I expect then they started harassing him. Australia has been brutal about anyone refusing the vax. Putting them in concentration camps. Really horrible stuff. I think it likely a large portion of the Australian population will die off in the next five years from this.

When I see some sort of odd thing that makes no sense. And the reporting is some strange stuff with a lot of contradictions. I assume right off that it's some sort of lie. Maybe I’m wrong but the odds are more likely that there is some problem and some sort of set up.

This is like the Port Arthur fake assault that they used to talk away peoples guns. Supposedly some young retarded kid did Port Arthur even though the effects were of a caliber of a special forces soldier doing the shooting.

PS: Sam, it read like the shooters in the house were up to no good, as there was a "missing person" (kidnapped or already murdered maybe?) involved.

My point on this post was not who the people are or even what happened in this particular case. The point is the bad guys will often get the guns to do their criminal acts. The law abiding won't, due to their being law-abiding. That's the complete failure of gun control.

"...The shooting gave way to six-hour siege, during which the suspects killed neighbor Alan Sure, 58..."

I wonder if these people are being gangstalked and they thought the officers were there to do them in, which they did. And the neighbor. Maybe he has been following them and harassing them for months. Why would they shoot the neighbor for no reason? These people were not drug dealing motorcycle gangs. There has to be a reason they go off like this. I bet it's stalking and they had enough.

Don't laugh, this has been going on a long time and there's a lot these people who appear to be beholden to no known law enforcement watching people all the time.
