Meanwhile, over in Europe ...

Peak Stupidity has a few known European readers and probably some number between 0 and a few thousand unknown European readers too. We do realize that stupidity happens in locations outside the US. Stupidity, and sometimes lack thereof, in China has been a particular focus. Let me at least mention what's been going on in Europe lately under the (now more general) topic key People's Revolt*.

The resistance by farmers in Europe to the tyrannical dictates out of Brussels (heart of the E.U. Regime) is not on most Americans' radar iCrap screens. The French Yellow Vest movement has been going on for over half a decade! I imagine the Euro press tries to cover the story the same way the American press does, with a pillow, until dead. (h/t: Iowa Hawk**, aka David Burge.) They don't want "the people" getting uppity.

Name notwithstanding, my John Birch Society magazine, The New American does a pretty good job reporting on the new onerous restrictions being laid down on the agriculture industry in Europe (they imagine, correctly, that the same will happen here). Another source is The Gateway Pundit, such as these posts on the situations in Germany, France, and Spain.

Highways and roads have been blocked, manure has been sprayed on buildings, and lots of fun mayhem has been enjoyed by the (regular) people of the earth. Very much as with protests by truckers, this stuff is hard for the Globalist elites trying to ruin , errr, run things to ignore. It's not just the amount of mayhem that can be caused, but also the serious worries about food supplies and/or supplies of ANYTHING, with farmers and truckers on strike, respectively. Not every occupation has this much inherent clout. That is, when these protests are done in solidarity.

Yesterday Gateway Pundit said EU FOLDS, FARMERS WIN: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen Will Scrap Green ‘Sustainable Use Regulation’ Aiming To Halve Fertilizer Usage. That IS good news, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

These people don't just up and give up or even say they've been wrong. Here's this piece of work named Ursula:
"Our farmers deserve to be listened to", Von der Leyen told the European Parliament.

"I know that they are worried about the future of agriculture and their future as farmers. But they also know that agriculture needs to move to a more sustainable model of production so that their farms remain profitable in the years to come."
More:
"The EU Commission finally acknowledges that its approach was not the right one, and so strengthens the credibility and importance of the current strategic dialogue", the lobby’s president Christiane Lambert said in a post on social media platform X.
No, see, that's not the ... look, it's not that the farmers don't understand why you EU Overlords want new regulations in place. It's not your presentation. It's the WHOLE! DAMN! PROGRAM!

The EU folks try to revert in their lecturing to the old standbys of normal ACTUAL pollution or harm, degraded soil, pesticide run-off, etc. BULL. Those problems have been worked on, if not solved, for a century.
Belgian’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo welcomed the proposal in a post on X, saying it was "crucial we keep our farmers on board to a more sustainable future of farming, as part of our determination to get the Green Deal done."
See? It's about using the completely bogus - unless you have a working mathematical model of the entire Earth's climate, it most certainly is! - Climate Calamity™ excuse to take over another huge part of the economies of the Western World, Agriculture. People are getting wise to this. Even if they DO believe that this theory about man-made Global Warming is a certainty, most people have kind of gotten the idea that it's still a lot of hype. After all, climate predictions made decades ago don't seem to have come to fruition. You don't ruin the economy over it. That's what the farmers in Europe know.

Most of the Globalists in EU headquarters in Brussels undoubtedly know this too, but just in case the reader doesn't get it, they WANT to ruin the economy. They've got their own 15-minute city and eat-zee-bugs plans to implement to replace it.

Bravo, European farmers! Just remember, what might seem like a backing down by the elites is just their way of humoring you for a spell. As the Instapundit says regularly, "don't get cocky, kid."

* This is the topic key formerly known as People's Revolt of '22, named when I thought the Canadian trucker's protest and other resistance against vaccine mandates might turn into something a lot bigger. Hopefully, just our time-line was off - this post is hopeful, at least.

PS
Mod. I agree - opportunism is one reason for the climate hysteria. And seen with Dr. Feuds eyes, we differ in the ways that lead people to say that there is this climate calamity.

I meet lots (!) of people who firmly(!) berlieve in these ideas.

Now - would they sell a house on the coast because of the "rising ocean tides?" - Some would, but others would not.

That is because there is a big difference between believing soemthing and - acting on the basis of your believes. Bweing a prepper, you sure know lots of people, who agree that soemthing might get quite wrong, but are not willing to do much. Many people love it when things go the way the always go and - - - thus they hate changes.

The stories to illustrate this are aplenty. - One that falls in the category super-curious: The famous Francfurt Institute for Social Research predicted correctly that Hitler would come to power and be a huge threat to German jews. But then they folded their hands and stayed in Frankfurt - and if it wouldn't have been for one young member of the group - Erich Fromm - they might have missed the last boat out of Europe.

Once they were in the US and saw that Fromm had been qwuite right and saved their money - and their lives maybe - they threw him out! - As a sacrifice to the gods, somehow.

PS: I forgot to say, in reply to Mr. Kief, that I'm looking forward to the Vlad Putin interview by Mr. Carlson.

Did you all read that EU bureaucrats are trying to ban (further) entry in their "zone" due to his having done that interview? For crying out loud, one of the big newspaper men interviewed Adolph Hitler in the mid 1930's. Do you want to find out what the guy thinks and is up to, or not? The easiest way is to ask him questions!

PS: Mr. Blanc, if you mean they are true believers in their plan for Agenda 2030 (we've delayed it a decade, thank goodness) and all that, yes, I agree that there are true believers. Do they believe in their excuse that the world climate will be so changed as to disrupt human life? Only the dumbest of the treehugger-extension crowd do.

I wrote that term because I have nothing against treehuggers, per se. I like the woods, especially the temperate rain forests in the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'm glad to see a number of them without 1/2 of them being mine. ;-}

PS: Dieter, first of all, I'm glad to read from you that the protests are getting lots of press. The Yellow Vest movement has been around for 5 years, yet I hardly read a peep about it. (This would be, for example, on yahoo - pretty Regime-oriented and mainstream - headlines when I log on/off email, etc.

As for those bureaucrats, I don't agree. The failure of all manner of predications, some made 2 decades back now, to pan out have got to be noticed after a while. Additionally, the bureaucrats in government even more so, because they are in the Regime capital, also would be aware of the old Instapundit line (to paraphrase) "I'll believe it's a problem, when those who tell me it's a problem act like it's a problem."

I think that there are plenty of these people who go along to get along. If you noticed in those excerpts, or anywhere else where you read statements from officials, they tend to use words like "emissions" and "pollution" and just "carbon" instead of "carbon dioxide, the gas we exhale, don'tcha know". Then, they pivot to talking about ACTUAL pollution when they aren't getting anywhere with the carbon crap.

It may be closer to what you're saying, Dieter, but people who have something invested, a career, grant money, etc., can purposefully put blinders on that help them BELIEVE this is all for a great cause. However, none of them would sell a house like Nikki Haley's, on the coast of. S. Carolina - beats all hell out of Bamberg (major black county) or Dillon - for a loss because they are truly worried the oceans will rise. (And, don't forget, the seas will boil! Actually, the Earth will boil... somehow... I can't picture it - some 5th phase of matter? I dunno.)

I.e., they don't really believe the Climate Calamity™ as results of scientific work.

PS

The German government claims it is reducing subsidies to farmers. What it is actually doing is applying a road-use tax on fuel used by vehicles largely used off road and in the production of food. So, if Cem has hos way, your food will be taxed at at least three different points.

I deal with my local farmers directly, and I deal only in cash.

PS: Good evening, Dieter!

I googled Cem Özdemir and found this photo of him with a poor, sickly looking cannabis plant...

https://i.ibb.co/3NL5Nsd/Cem-zdemir-Sick-Plant.jpg
(Imgbb.com apparently does not like the Ö in his name.)

And I thought, oh my. Cannabis isn't supposed to look like that while in veg. Those leaves at the top should not to be drooping like that, and those yellow leaves shouldn't be yellow. The leaves should be reaching for the light and the plant should be a nice, wonderful green color.

That plant isn't worth growing out...

This is what healthy plants look like.

https://i.ibb.co/vh5LtcL/Grow-Room.jpg

Then I searched a little more and I found this picture...
https://i.ibb.co/BCBB8QT/Cem-zdemir-Grow-Room.jpg

Now that's more like it. I don't know if that is his grow room or someone else's, but that looks nice. The plants are still a bit on the yellow side, but that might just be the color of the photo. And I'd say they're packed in a bit tight. (I'd prefer to give them a little more room to breathe so they don't get all tangled up in each other and so he doesn't start having any mildew problems.) But they do look healthy and happy.

I'd imagine that weighed out nicely after harvest.

I heard a rumor that cannabis is going to be legalized in Germany. That adults can grow 3 plants, or something like that. Is that true, Dieter?

I don't know if that's true, but I hope so.
Cannabis prohibition is so stupid.

A tax on meat is stupid too. I don't see how eating ze bugs and giving more money to the criminals masquerading as "government" will change the weather.

Anyway...

I hope you have a great (looking at the clock, I realize it's 2:12am in Konstanz) morning, Dieter! ☮️

PS The motivations of the Woke are mixed. It’s my view, that although some of them are simply globalist looters and flunkies of globalist looters, many of them, perhaps the majority of them, are true believers. They really believe that multiculturalism and “sustainable” economic activity are possible and will, when the nasty white men are seen off, result in a paradise on Earth.

Interesting. We'll be in Germany later this year and I'll be anxious to see how the farmer thing is going at that time. We'll be on the road a lot.

Oh - I might add - I know a number of those farmers. And I do talk to them.- The mother of one of them was with him in the woods right behind our house making firewood the other day and I talked to both of them - the Massey Ferguson diesel traktor with two bussard-feathers crossed at the cooler running all the time - I just like it that way, the farmer said, I don't like to turn him off - - - I want him running as long as I'm not at home***... and we laughed a lot - especially when I mentioned that the argument that the protesitng farmers would be Hitler-followers came up. His mother is 80, she told me, and that she in these Hitlker-moments always makes the point that Hitler'd be long dead...then she laughed again...

***one reason for the protests is the government's plan to rise the diesel-tax for farmers.

Oh and green minister of agriculture Cem Özdemir (born and raised in Swabia by his turkish parents) - a confessing marihuana-grower and smoker (no need to confess here - you sense that when you look at him him...his goofy lunatism IS a bit Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers like (as it is oriental - even though Özdemir is an old leftist atheist...).

Cem Özdemir announced a .n.e.w. .p.l.a.n. today: A new tax!!

What a surprise!

A tax on meat-products (to fight - you guessed it: The Climate-Catastrophy (that's the term they use more and more: The Climate Catastrophy. Oh and Özdemir is also a vegetarian (as minister for agriculture, as I said...) - - -

SpliFF!

(It's not that we wouldn't have some fun too in Germany - we do!)

I drove to Hamburg last weekend, and on the highways of those parts of Western Germany, the farmers were parked on the overpasses and not blocking the highways. Most were to busy chatting with each other, and did not see me waving support. I guess I should have hooped. I still occasionally stop to chat with the yellow-vest gals at my local rondel, when they bother to show up ... they’ve long been abused by Macron’s mercenary imported police.

The press did cover the farmer's protests - big style.
To think that most bureaucrats know that the save-the-climate!-imperative is wrong, - is wrong.****

To get the frenzy right it is best to study the classics. Like Molière's The Imaginary Invalid and Goethe's Faust and
Schopenhauer about the human's will and our - weak-oh-so weak - head/quarter - compared to our will(=our drives//our: unconscious (yes, Dr. Freud studied Schopenhauer too).

I write this to get the black and white optics a bit dimmed down.

Put differently: In our modern days, most of the contradictions and irregularities and the unreasonbleness that is part of our times - - - - goes in many a fine line through most of us too. - - - Molière's play, which I can't recommend enough as a tool to get access to the core questions of these realms I talked about - Molière let's the question open, how much of the Imaginary Invalid lives inside the theatre-goer, and how much is happeneing on stage to - delight and - - - enlight... If we laugh abpout the stupidities of our times, we - rgularly - laugh about our own stupidites too. (See also Buster Keaton (et. al.).

Lots of people belive in climate change, because over the decades they have become used to it.

One of the bombshell-like detonating segments in Tucker Carlson's interview with Vladimir Putin will be the segments in which he denies the climate-emergency. - Because that's what scares people: If you take away their deepest beliefs from them and - make them feel mocked. Tucker Carlson being Tucker Carlson, he might also ask Putin about his apporach to the LGBTQ-realm. - By and large the same results****...

***Roger Koeppel, good Swiss journo and owner*** (!) of a decent weekly (Die Weltwoche) knows dozens - if not hundreds of the Swiss economic elite from personal experience and he said, that they are full of resentment against Putin, even though they - until recently - made a lot of money in Russia. - Koeppel is not quite clear, why this is so and said, it might be the LGBTQ-complex, climate and Ukraine war - plus Nawalny's et. al-. incarceration ... The Swiss elite doesn't want to get too close with a total nay-sayer...
