This is my favorite Neil Diamond song. It's the one I was referring to in Monday's post..
From his album Moods, Song Sung Blue was at the top of the America's (Billboard magazine's, actually) Top-40 Pop music chart a half century ago last month.
This one has a great melody! I knew it was all over for Neil Diamond music when I heard You Don't Bring Me Flowers.
Though the Kung Flu PanicFest seems mostly over, there is still related stupidity around, two aspects of which we'll blog about next week. There's a financial post coming, some more on the UK, and probably some humor. Thanks for reading a and writing. Happy Sunday!

Yeah, that one sucked. Perhaps he did it for friendship's sake - Streisand was a high-school friend of his. A fellow student of theirs at that highschool in Brooklyn was future Chess Master Bobby Fischer.

I know it's terminally square, but I've always liked Neil Diamond. "Song, Song Blue" is one of his better songs. I also like the "I am, I said" or whatever - the one where his chair talks, or doesn't. "Holly Holy" is good too. None of them are bad actually. His songs evoke an old America that was a much better place.
And how many song writers have written songs about bum-wine? (Cracklin' Rose). "Coming to America" is a punchy little song, although I'm sick of the "Yay! Immigrants are the real Americans" BS in all its manifestations.

Yes, that's a good'un too. One of his songs, either that one or "Holly Holy" featured prominently in Quentin Tarantino's last movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".
Diamond is a class act - an entertainer who aspires to nothing more than to entertain and who does it well.
