Keep Cash King II(a) - Follow-up on the muffin place

Aha! I ended up right back in that same concourse at the big hub airport. I skipped the Chipotle place (that's forever) and noticed that very same small manned vending area that was the subject of the 2nd half of Keep Cash King II - the Tower of London.

I didn't really want a 600 calorie muffin or any other, so I just asked quickly "Do you take cash?" "No, sorry." There's my answer. This is only an anecdote, but it does answer my question. Actually, two conclusions can be made:

1) The first lady, from the other post, had definitely taken the 3 bucks cash to keep herself. Here's something I wrote in the first Keep Cash King post:
At first, this idea pissed me off, but only for a few seconds. It's not these employees' fault that this Big-Biz outfit was not set up for taking cash from me. Let them get screwed out of 5 bucks ...
I have no problem with this now. I did notice the darker persuasion of all the employees at that taco place (first post). This current lady was White, leading to...

2) I would have expected more corruption from the black employees. This White lady was playing by the rules. In this case, I don't want any part of those rules anymore.

It's time for some related music. Somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd season of Kung Flu PanicFest (Dec.of '20), we featured Steve Miller's Your cash ain't nothing but trash. That's how the company that operates those airport vendors has been treating me.

This one will make me (at least) feel better, no matter the lyrics. It's the great sound of AC/DC again:

Thank you all for reading and/or commenting! We'll be back with lots more stupidity next week.

That website hasn't been updated in more than a year and doesn't even mention her campaign for Congress.

Her campaign site:

https://www.rebekahjonescampaign.com

I note there is no year attached (e.g., "RebekahJones2022"), so maybe she will run every year for something.

The amount of damage people like this can do should not be underestimated.

Kamala Harris' mother is a high-caste "Brahmin" of South India. Kamala may have inherited a disposition to look down on the little people, which transfers well onto the anti-white Wokeness ideology, which puts White-Christians especially males as the little people. It may also explain her strategic marriage to the wealthy Jewish financier/lawyer, Emhoff.

PS: Good afternoon, everyone,

Lol, Mr. Alarmist. I lost all my guns in a similar accident.

You're welcome, Mr. Hail...

Yeah, but she is (presumably?) toilet trained...
Which is kind of rare for an •Indian.

PS: Mr. Hail, you're right there - I was thinking more of the post on GDP, the trade deficit with China, etc. This story is about Orwellian practices encroaching. Steve Sailer doesn't care about that either.

I should have written a sentence about, yes, the next step, payments via phone. I've written about that before regarding China. Just as a lot of Chinamen almost missed completely the land line era of phones, skipping from having no phone to having mobile phones, many of the poorer people have skipped from Cash is King in as late as '10* to the Orwellian phone payments they almost all use now.

Big Gov CAN keep track of you from CC purchases, using coercion of the Big Biz giants who operate Visa/MC or Amex, but,

1) It's more trouble, and they might only do it for cases of interest. (At some point, if they would just suck in the dBase regularly, with memory storage nearly free, they could just track us all

2) That tracking would still only be sparse - our position would be noted only when we purchase anything.

The phone payments are Orwell's Big Brother's wet dream. It's not only what one bought and where, the can get continually, but they may as well get your whole, well the path of your whole life from GPS.

This is what I'm worried about - once cash is gone, the phone payments will come next. "Look at the advancements in China with this! We are getting behind."

* One could use a credit card then in some fancier places, but everywhere took cash, and I doubt any but 5-10% of the population had CCs or debit cards then.

"Steve Sailer does not have an interest in that sort of thing. I don't think he cares too much about economic details"

I wouldn't say "economic details" is the best way to characterize the Cash Question, more like cashlessness being a step towards a more perfected surveillance society on the China model. This is a question more social and political than economic.

There is also a trend just recently towards not just use of "credit cards > cash" but integration of the entire payment mechanism into a phone app, which is an even more egregious example of the same.

PS: I've heard all kinds of excuses, Mr. Hail. Yes, I remember that bifecta of "We are short of change, and that's good for all of us". Something I heard about "we don't have a bank" does agree with what you stated about the Atlanta Hartsfield airport terminal. However, you can't tell if the people know what's going on or not.

How much cash do you need for a day's business though? You should be accumulating the larger bills and using up the ones and change. I know they have to get things through the TSA, but then again, you can safely leave stuff overnight with those aluminum-bar doors that come down.

Steve Sailer does not have an interest in that sort of thing. I don't think he cares too much about economic details at all - just not his thing. Also, he's no Libertarian or Constitutionalist, though he has mentioned the Constitution a few time favorably recently.

PS: It's great you have an alternative, Mr. Smith. Not only did you get what you need, for cash, and save some $$, but you have encouraged that 2nd business to Keep Cash King. That was the thing that was so nice at the alt-ice-cream stand (OK, I just mean "alternative"). I asked first if she takes cash so she knows it matter to at least one bloke.

Mr. Hail, I check out Mr. Smith's photo on your comment at your site. Wheeww, I'd take Miss Jones over this lady ... for a night or two... TOPS. Kamala is somewhat pretty, but when you hear that voice ... well, paper bags don't work for that, so whaddya whaddya?

Aha, Alarmist, you are an ex-Zerohedger. (Actually I think you told me that not too long ago.) I always liked that "boating accident" line.

As for taking cash out, I noticed something: When I got cash back ($100) from Wal-Mart a few years back, the fact that most of the debit on the card was the cash did not show up on my statement. It just looked like a purchase. Yet at other stores when I do the same, it shows up specifically. Granted that was at least 5 years back because I can't stand Wal-Mart. I think I went there for ammo. I wonder if that is still the case - I could use them as a bank every week or even more often. "Yes, this bag of Cheetos, and yeah, a hundred cash back."

In my corner of the EU I still use cash for most things. To feed that habit, I draw a thousan euros from the atm most weeks, whether needed or not. I figure the regularity, which I’m sure only makes it more suspicious, no doubt triggering the EU equivalent to the SARs they write up on you Mr. Smith when you clean out their vault.

I need the cash for an important reason: After I lost all my good in a tragic boating accident, I now find it necessary to drown my sorrows in hookers and blow. Yeah... That’s the ticket. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

Good afternoon to you all.

It should come as no surprise that Aramis Ayala endorsed Kamala Harris early on, the very day of the latter's presidential announcement. No time to waste or consider other candidates!

PS: Greetings, Mr. Hail, Mr. Moderator,

One day, a couple months ago, I went to the propane place (where I have been getting my tanks filled for years) to fill the tanks for my gas grill. The propane place has recently changed ownership, so there are some new policies. Not only was the gas price increased to $25/tank, but they no longer accept cash. (WTF?) I'm not going to write a check or use a card to fill a couple propane tanks. Hell, I don't (usually) carry anything but cash, especially when running such small errands. I guess they don't trust their employees to not steal from them or something.

So, I went up the road to the other propane place, where they were more than happy to take my cash and fill my tanks for $14 each. ($22 win!)

Has anyone else noticed that if you go to the bank to get cash that it's pretty easy to ask for more cash than they have? They usually can't give you more than a couple thousand dollars as they do not have it on hand.

Also, thank you Mr. Hail for all your great info on Daniel Uhlfelder, Aramis Ayala and crazy Rebekah Jones. I noticed you asked my opinion of Rebekah Jones on twitter the other day, and I really don't know what to say about her. I pretty much figure that anyone who would want to be a congress critter is a bit crazy and a likely sociopath. I really don't know much about Mrs. Jones but it seems unlikely a democrat can win that district. I did notice that she has a website...

This is one of the earliest stories I find about cashlessness at the big U.S. airports specifically. It comes during the long "carrot" phase of the anti-cash movement (the "stick" phase being the current and increasing refusal to accept cash):

_________________

"Cashless trend cuts into use of Hartsfield-Jackson ATMs," By Kelly Yamanouchi, Atlanta Journal-Constitution / Aug 7, 2017.

The proliferation of credit card use means fewer people use cash regularly and has cut demand for ATMs. That makes it less profitable for banks to operate at the airport, prompting changes in how the contract is structured.

The world’s busiest airport plans to rebid a contract for an airport bank with foreign exchange services, after it attracted only one company — SunTrust — interested in operating a branch and ATMs at the airport.

It's funny how little I hear about the "no-cash businesses" trend. No one pointing it out, no one asking what it means.

You noticed a few such stories during the Panic. (One thing about the Panic, it would never rest easy one narrative alone. It would always probe its enemy, civilization, for new weaknesses and so came up with new scare-stories every few weeks or so.)

For a while, they promoted fear of paper or coin currency as ways the terroristic Wuhan-apocalypse-virus could definitely spread. Then there was a stupid storyline about a supposed coin shortage. The two narratives coexisted and helped each other. "Thank God, there's a coin shortage! It means fewer people will die from the Wuhan Apocalypse Virus after all! A blessing from on high, it is."

I haven't noticed in months either of these things (how did the "coin shortage" resolve? Did the top Corona-experts ever determine how deadly handling of paper and coin currency was?).

I also haven't noticed anyone ever talking much about the rise of businesses refusing to take cash. I don't t hink Steve Sailer has ever once had a post on this interesting phenomenon.
