John Derbyshire on the Chinese Covid~Zero not being stupid

NY Times headline from early Sept. '22:

This image would have been better for our previous post. I truly didn't mean to click on the odious NY Times. I was searching for an image and got sucked in by the headline.

The Peak Stupidity commenter Sam J. and I had a pretty long argument, no discussion, ok argumentative discussion most of a month back on the topic I could describe as: Are Chairman Xi and the CCP* being smart or stupid with their Covid~Zero program? If you're not a regular PS reader, let me tell you that we have been covering the living hell corona-germs out of this topic since this past Spring - check the Kung Flu Stupidity topic key.

The comments under our two posts China Covid~Zero policy additional info. and China Covid~Zero Policy - Hu is Gu? have this discussion. It was just just way too long to insert anything comprehensive on here, or else I would do that.

The illustrious pundit and old China hand John Derbyshire had something to say on this question. Unfortunately, this writing was not on one of his monthly diaries - they always appear on The Unz Review where one can comment. This was from one of his Radio Derb weekly podcasts. Contrary to a sprinkling of the his segments from the transcripts of these podcasts, this one did not become a stand-alone post on either VDare (no commenting anyway) or on the UR. Look, right here** for this.

Anyway, web pages aside, in that segment, Does Zero COVID make sense?, Mr. Derbyshire didn't necessarily back up Sam J.'s opinion, but he considers the possibility that the Chinese are being smart due to massive fear of a new highly dangerous virus. I'm gonna insert the whole thing. (He won't sue me - he still owes me a pizza dinner, alas, Chicago style...)
Does Zero COVID make sense? I had a rather alarming conversation the other day with a friend who is well-acquainted with the region where medical science intersects with politics.

We got to talking about the ferocious lockdowns in China. After some relaxation, the country's been hit with a new outbreak, said to be the worst yet. The lockdowns are going on again, more intense than ever.

Mrs Derbyshire has an old school friend in southwest China. Retired now, she lives with her husband on one of the upper floors of an apartment block. They are allowed out, properly masked up, for brief periods, strictly monitored, once or twice a week. My wife was actually on the phone with this lady when in the background she heard a voice call: "Come and get tested!" They have to go downstairs to the lobby to get tested for COVID every day. If you test positive, you're hustled off to a quarantine camp.

For a retired couple like them it's bad enough. If you're young and trying to make your way in some kind of career, or just doing regular paid work, it's been devastating. For the small service businesses and stores that working people patronize, it's been a killer.

There have been big protests and disturbances, this week at the iPhone factory in the city of Zhengzhou, in the old Yellow River heartland of Chinese civilization. The Chinese economy is choking.

My friend pointed out that the Chinese government's strategy makes no epidemiological sense. As The Washington Post pointed out today, quote:
A coronavirus outbreak on the verge of being China's biggest of the pandemic has exposed a critical flaw in Beijing's "zero covid" strategy: a vast population without natural immunity. After months with only occasional hot spots in the country, most of its 1.4 billion people have never been exposed to the virus … Opening to a world that's now mostly living with the virus would cause a wave of deaths, officials fear.

End quote.

There is far more natural immunity in countries like ours, where every other person you know got COVID and recovered; and far less damage to our national economy.

So why have the Chinese authorities taken such a destructive approach? Why have the ChiComs done this to themselves? I had been assuming it's just the instinctive control-freakery of despots not restrained by law; but my friend told me there's a disturbing theory going round among specialists.

It's taken for granted, he said, that the ChiComs have been doing biological-warfare research for years, as we and other nations have. It's an arms race; you can't not do it when other countries are. The research may produce killer pathogens, but it also shows how to defend against them. If you don't do the research, you don't have defenses.

It may be, my friend said, that the ChiComs accidentally discovered or developed a very lethal pathogen; one that, if it got loose in China, would kill tens of millions, perhaps hundreds of millions. They are naturally terrified of that happening.

He asked me if I'd heard about the virus created by Boston University that killed eighty percent of the lab mice researchers infected with it. Yes, I remembered spotting that in the news last month. Was it for real?

Hard to say, my friend said, with peer review not yet out, but it's the kind of thing we're playing with here. If the ChiComs created something super-lethal, possibly in the same lab the original COVID escaped from, they might very well be scared out of their wits.

Walking away from that conversation with my friend—a sober and thoughtful guy, not a conspiracy nutcase or end-of-the-world alarmist—I have to admit, I was pretty scared myself.
Note, BTW, that Mr. Derbyshire does not blame every damn thing on "the Americans".

OK, look, but as I wrote in the 2nd of the 2 PS posts linked-to above:
Well, the thing is, if it were the case that this was a wise policy, saving China from future bio-destruction, the Covid~Zero policy over there could be more like a bunch of drills, in which you gather in one spot, get your health score verified regularly by officials, and test yourself every day. Oh, they do that stuff, but these are NOT drills.
People have been getting the full treatment, as if this WERE the BIG ONE. Do the Chinese officials think the deadly strain that could have come from the lab is out and about already? Are many people dying, as would be the case from this deadly strain, and we are just not hearing about it? They can hide a lot, but then my China source hasn't heard anything about people dying or not coming back from quarantine camps. They are not scared of anything besides the "Big Whites" and the stupidity of the CCP.

Too bad Donald Trump got cheated out of a 2nd term. He could have gone along with this theory and really shut down the immigration invasion. Call it "Visa~Zero".

* That'd be a great name for a band! (It doesn't rhyme in Chinese though...)

** I can read in 1/8 or 1/10 the time I can listen, so I wait for the transcripts. For some odd reason, when those transcripts get published on VDare, one must click another "here" link to get to a page with both the podcast and the transcript. That seems to me like an extra step for no reason.

OK I get it. So much of what he said was generally true that I skipped over some of the more flaky parts. Thanks for setting me straight.

I have defended Musk a lot because I have not seen any evidence that he is deep State and there is no doubt in my mind that, solar power, electric cars which can be charged with solar and rockets that put distributed internet over the whole planet...well that's fabulous. So even if he is deep State, all this is good stuff. Especially the electric cars. People call me a fool for this all the time, and my retort is you can make electric power to charge your car in a huge number of ways, but try building an oil refinery in your back yard. Good luck with that. They say electric cars can be electronically turned off but, the same for IC. There's a law all new cars are that way.

I may be the only one that thinks the Jews set up the Chinese, and the US, and then dumped a viral plague on the Chinese to kill them off. My reasoning is simple. The Jews fund they could not control the Chinese or the Russians so now they are trying to kill them. They've done this MANY times in the past. It’s not some big surprise, nor anything different from what they have done in the past.

My major clues are

We know it was engineered from cleavages between different sections of the virus that belonged to widely different viruses.

A BIG clue to me was a Jewish virologist in Isreal who immediately popped up after the corona virus out break and said that he had been working on the exact same virus in chickens and would have a vaccine in 6 weeks. WHOOPS, that guy disappeared and not another word was heard from him. He may have been working on the same thing but not being clued in blabbed it out.

The US funded the lab in China and a Jew from Harvard helped them set it up and I bet, it's so likely, that he pushed their research to be the same as the actual virus the Jews unleased. He was arrested for doing this illegally but I haven't heard any more. Same for a student of his who was caught with some sort of biological materik hidden in his sock who was arrested.

This way the Chinese blame the US and the US blames the Chinese. So Jewish. Textbook. But there's a glitch here. The US nor China would ever commit viral warfare on each other because it’s like firing nukes at each other. Neither can win. You can not in any way make me believe that the US or China would do such a stupid thing. But the Jews would. They would do so and hide that they did it.

Unz is blaming it on the US because he is a Jew and even if he does let a lot of things through he knows better than to peg the world wide covid attack on the Jews. Could be very dangerous to him and Jews.

A big tell is that if the Jews did not do it, then who. The lab leak idea is really iffy and doesn't correspond to the now prevalent lock-downs. If the Chinese knew it was a leak then they wouldn't need lock downs would they? The only reason they would need lock downs was if they KNEW that an outside source leaked the virus.

If the Jews did 9-11, and they did, then why wouldn;t they do this?

PS: Sam, this link is the search results of Ron Unz's comments that include "Romanoff". Unz is a weirdo - in a good way here - in that he rails on guys that publish on HIS OWN SITE! Haha, and I guess he pays them something too. That is very principled, so I respect it very much.

If you note, one of the mentions is just in an excerpt by Godfree Roberts. Those 2 seem to be in kinship in their China Propoganda efforts. OTOH, Romanoff lives in China (he says, anyway) while Godfree Roberts is too much of a real Communist for the Chinese to let him in. (His parents were New England Commies who went to China to preach the Marxspel - Marxist Gospel? Just made it up...)

From it (keep in mind that I don't agree with Ron Unz's certainty tha the virus came from America to begin with - designed in American and Chinese labs in collaboration? Likely.):

"As far as I know, neither the Saker nor Moon of Alabama have advanced any serious arguments opposing the newly dominant Wuhan lab-leak theory, let alone been willing to point to the obvious evidence of an American biowarfare attack. If you ignore that latter possibility, the lab-leak theory is clearly far more plausible than anything else.

I’m unfamiliar with the some of the other names, but both Godfree Roberts and Larry Romanoff are simply pro-China propagandists, and their very weak arguments about Covid will never influence anyone who is not already a pro-China partisan.

Indeed, the PRC made a serious early blunder by highlighting Romanoff’s claims, since so much of his large body of work is entirely fallacious and even ridiculous. Some of his articles have claimed that the Panama Canal was built by Chinese slaves and that America massacred all its Chinese immigrant workers after they had finished building our railways. When I asked him for his sources, he had none. The WSJ also discovered that he had pleaded guilty to criminal fraud in his native Canada."

"...I don't agree with the concept that the Jews want to take over China. Why??..."

Easy to understand. The Jews own all the central banlks n most of the world except China, Japan at one time not sure now and I think Russia kicked them out. Their fortune and control is based on this. Let one escape and it could start all of them escaping. It's a huge rip off. They're mentally ill and want to control everything.

You may be right about Romanoff. I heartily admit I have a serious bias against the Jews. I’ve seen so many evil things they’ve done that nothing surprises me.

The statement,"... Instead, private enterprise inevitably follows the same path – that of maximising profit by raising prices and cutting services..."

I believe in general this is 100% true. I’ve seen this many times. It was written about in "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by Perkins. I can even give you a prime exact example. In California, they had one of the best power systems in the country. Sold off and recently the company running it maintained the lines so poorly that a hanger that held the lines up rubbed all the way through. Steel hanger. Causing billions in loses from the fires started. Did they pay for it. Not that I know of. They should ever house burnt down they should pay for. I bet they don't.

A lot of stuff Romanoff says may have figures wrong here and there but...I expect the general tone and general factual drift of what he says is true. I don't care whether he likes the US or not. A lot of what he says about the founding members is sort of true. A lot of people were rounded up by the British and shipped out then sold as slaves,(indentured servants...right, notice 50% died before they could serve their "indenture"). All of these were not criminals that we would think of. A lot didn't have a set job under some Lord so they were dragged off and enslaved. This is where we get the word "kidnapping" from. They would drag kids off and put them on the boat to the "plantations". There were huge plantations used forced labor in America. America was a huge slave colony.

PS: OK, I had to lay off and write other stuff (such as on Mr. Hail's site), but I finished that Romanoff article. About the man, first. I remembered there's something I didn't like about him - he's as anti-all-things-American and pro-everything-China as Ron Unz is and more. I will look for this if I have time tomorrow, but I remember Ron Unz chewing out this guy in the comments section - as Romanoff HAD had a column, and I thought it was gone for a while (still had his light-yellow background).

My opinion of Larry Romanoff is that he wanted to get in good with Mr. Unz, so he started the pro-China stuff. His biography at the bottom says he lives there now. Can I believe everything he writes - nope, not any more than the Moon of Alabama who was full of crap in the one post I read.

I don't discount everything Mr. Romanoff wrote about the rich-for-centuries Jewish banker families. I like his discussion of the Roosevelt gold and sliver confiscation. I have no ideas if all of his stories on the dozens of American confiscations of gold and art are true. I doubt it. I don't trust his numbers one bit either. There are just a lot of mistakes here that give me a bad feeling about him.

He puts no blame of all the FED money creation on the US Congress, made up of all ethnicities and races of spendthrifts.

From this article:

"With 32,000 ounces in a tonne of gold, and gold selling at $1,700 an ounce, that represents many billions of dollars per year, compounded at 5% for nearly 150 years..." He gets a number in the $Trillions from that?? No, even at that 1,000 metric tons yearly for the whole 150 years, that's 1.5 million metric tons, or about $3 Billion worth. You can't do compounding on ounces of gold. Gold IS the real money. After this whole article about gold and other riches, but A LOT about gold, how could he not understand this.

"This is why we have Chinese all over the world; even today the population of Panama is more than 10% Chinese because of this." No, wrong, Chinese people have gone all over the world in order to do business. It's not 1870. They do this voluntarily, and the Chinese government is glad for it, in order that the Chinese culture get spread around the world. How'd they get to Africa, BTW? Were they Shanghai'd to Africa too? No, strictly business, on the part of the Chinese.

Ctrl-f on "immigration" -- no matches! WTF? The guy writes about the looting of America and the poor financial situation of Americans, but he left that out. How about the 5 million or more Chinese people who've come here. Shanghai'd or taking advantage of birthright citizenship, no exit controls, meaning lifelong visa overstays, illegal entry into the port of Newark, etc?

"There are some who believe that turning over government services or assets to private enterprise is a wise move because, as we are told, governments are bloated and inefficient, and private companies can almost inevitably be far more efficient. In real life, I have not been able to uncover even one instance where this mythical theory has proven true. Instead, private enterprise inevitably follows the same path – that of maximising profit by raising prices and cutting services." Hahaaaa!!! Yeah, written as a good Communist should - nice, Romanoff.

"From the date of the US default in 1971 to 1981 or 1982, the US dollar depreciated by more than 95%, ..." Way too high. and one stupid wrong example: "In 1971, a fine home in the US cost only $25,000. By 1976, that same home was over $100,000, and by 1983 the price was about $250,000." Nah, he's well off on the Real Estate too. It's not that easy to compare apples to apples with housing. Better to look at the price of gold or silver - yes, he did, but he got that wrong too. If one goes from the latter 1930s - end of the confiscation - to now, he can arrive at a good number for the huge CPI rise.

"It is apparent that neither Zuckerberg nor the Google Twins were capable of creating almost instantly a world leader in their respective sectors." Sure they were. I understand the writer's point about the US government involvement with Elon Musk and Tesla. However, the internet 1.0 era was something else. I was there. Google was not the first, but they DID have the best search "engine". (OTOH, I sure hate the spying that was to come.) Same for Facebook. In fact, I know 2 guys whose company (they each held 1/8 of) could have become Facebook before Facebook. They sold out before that to a big company that wanted the customers, and they were ecstatic about it... at the time, anyway.

"This applies equally to others like Wikipedia, Amazon, Starbucks, and many others who seemed to come from almost nowhere to being world leaders in a very short time." More: "Similar arguments are true for Zuckerberg, Bezos, the Google Twins and others. None have the knowledge or ability, nor the enormous financing to do the things they are supposedly doing. Neither their fortunes nor their abilities can possibly be real." I don't know about Starbucks, but, no matter what you think about Jeff Bezos, he worked his ass off, and he was a bright guy with a simple idea. Amazon did not come from nowhere, unless "nowhere" is that first garage "warehouse" in Seattle.

When these companies get really big, well that's another story. Because the Feral Gov't is big enough to enforce all sorts of thing on behalf of these guys, they play ball together.

There's a lot in that article and 645 comments too! I don't trust Larry Romanoff's information one bit, sorry.

PS: Sam, hello again. I don't agree with the concept that the Jews want to take over China. Why?? S.Florida is one thing. California is a gold mine, pun intended, of beauty, especially without so many people. I can see the looting - Russia post Cold War is an example. However, America will be looted by the Chinese, because, I don't think Romanoff knows it all - the Chinese may have lots more gold than all the rest that supposedly sits in the City of London (or in vaults in Switzerland owned by Jews in the City of London.

BTW, the Chinese population will shrink on its own, as Japan's has been, and I see nothing wrong with that besides the temporary senior care problems. They have also been losing a significant amount of export business lately, due to very low demand. On the whole, I see them doing very well, but ONLY if the CCP leaves everyone the hell alone, if possible.

The Chinese have been given (by the US government) extremely favorable terms, definitely putting lots of money in SOME peoples' pockets. Are the Jews sore about getting ripped off? Nah, everyone is sore about receiving shitty products out of China, and it does suck (as per that book I reviewed), when the methods they use are culturally anathema and weird to us and frustrating as all get-out. (The book was basically a story of continual frustration.)

No, I don't think the even the rich Jews per Romanoff's article (which I'll comment on in a minute) control China. I don't think they want to loot it to take over. Do they, or did they, want to make tons of money on the place like lots of the elites? Sure, and, yes, at the expense of the American working man.

"How much did you give her?"
"Three bucks."
He could take my change (7 cents), put it back in, take the 3 bucks out of the drawer and set it aside, then void the sale and start over. I know for you and I that seems asinine, but at least, if you really don't know arithmetic, you can get the computer to do it CORRECTLY.

No, that was just too much for the guy. "Here, take this!" His attitude was that I should not have wasted time on the question of how much currency I get back when I pay for something. If one of the guy's tattoos had "Not Sure" written, and we were dealing with 3 Billion bucks instead of 3, I'd really think I'd been in that suspended animation as in Idiocracy. It's hard to get good information out of China without being there or having people one can trust give the straight scoop. It's the latter that I have been getting. Sure, they could be considered somehow "isolated incident" or not representative, but with extrapolation of the tales from trustworthy sources, I can see what the big stories one sees in the news are really all about.

"...China wants to hold out as "the pathogenicity of the Omicron virus weakens."..."

Since these engineered viruses break up faster than normal viruses, it may be that the Chinese will open up at some point. It would be interesting to see if they would release a variant of the original into the population, quietly, to counteract the more virulent.

No, this is a real thing. Some people have screwed up bacteria in their colons, and an infusion of healthy bacteria can override it and make them normal again. If this affects you could save a vast sun of money by finding someone with good poop, give yourself a castor oil treatment and a serious enema, put their poop in a blender and put it into your rear. I read, somewhere, that baby poop infused like this is good for health. As babies have poop with good bacteria that's somehow better. A life extension thing.

"...Are many people dying, as would be the case from this deadly strain, and we are just not hearing about it?..."

One of the major "supposed" facts my hypothesis is based on is people saying that the whole sky was full of soot from burning bodies in Wuhan. There were pictures of this. Is it wrong? Who knows, but the Chinese are acting like they fear a viral attack could wipe them out.

That they are locking down people to stop rioting is a non starter. The rioting is FROM them locking them down, and the Chinese don't need to lock down people to control them. This idea is silly. Locking down people raises the risk of things getting out of hand for the Chinese government. Anyone can see this.

Another really big, huge, reason I think the Chinese fear the virus is I believe the Jews did it. The Jews set up their research lab on viral weapons. A Jew guided their research most likely and THEN whooops somehow this escaped and started killing Chinese in vast numbers, or so it’s said, we don't know for sure. Now why would this happen?

There's no doubt at all that the Jews planned to hollow out the US then move to China. They wrote position papers on it and commented on them in the Jerusalem Times. They didn't say "exactly" they were moving to China but all these take-overs in the US in the 1980's and after bought out manufacturing companies in the US with financialization and moved production to China. In the study the other alternative was India. I think they obviously picked China.

The Jews, I say, were setting themselves up with cash flows in China from their US pilfered manufacturing. But something went wrong. The Chinese sweet talked the Jews but took them for all they had. I read stories about this by the Jews. They would set up some business deal with the Chinese. One example was a shampoo middle man. They would make one shipping container to his specification, then all the rest would be cheap bottles that broke, less expensive and less effective ingredients. Complaining by the Jew did nothing. Prepaid for all orders and they refused any refunds. Courts, no good, the Chinese piss on you in their courts. HA just like the Jews but even better. They shafted the hell out of them. On an even farther tangent, I admit this is reaching, know all those apartments built that had no one to live in them? Well what if the Jews paid them to build them and then when the Jews actually looked at them realized they were total shit and would likely fall on their heads. Uuuuh, and no refunds. HAHAHHAAH!

Finally, I think the Jews got the message. They had been had and no way were the Chinese going to let them move in and take one damn thing from them or sit up in their offices and let the Chinese work for them. No the Chinese just took their shit and paid them nothing for it.

You must understand the Jews were bred in contact with weak individual honest Europeans, and all their breeding as parasites were tailored to this interaction. To the Chinese who have been parasiting on each other for thousands of years in their hydraulic civilization that no one could escape the Jews must have been easy pickings, and all the while the Jews thought they were the better. Nope.

This is when the plot to murder all the Chinese started. The Jews no matter how crazy it sounds, always plan to murder everyone eventually anyways. There's a LOT of circumstantial evidence that they did this. We KNOW the virus was engineered. There are markers that show where the various strains in the virus were stitched together from viruses that had nothing to do with nor were close to each other. It was commented on by viral research centers then...no more on that. That evidence was quietly buried. We know that the virus had elements that targeted its strongest response to Chinese and other Asians. And finally, I have no doubt the Jews are evil enough to do this. They have killed many, many, many, multiple millions of people who have stood in their way.

The Jews, I say, are a genetically inbred tribe of parasitical psychopaths that have always been this way. Now for people educated in the West this seems like some crazy assed stupid inbred foolishness to say such a thing. And I say, look at the Jews past history and then look at the Minnesota Twins Study. Look at how identical twins, separated at birth, dressed, what type of wives they married, what their mental behaviors were like, what cigarettes they smoked, on and on and on with their exact behaviors. You will be astounded. It will completely blow your mind. I mean, it’s stupefying that what they found could be true, but it is. It will forever, if you are honest, blow the living hell out of the theory that genetics do not play a BIG MAJOR role in our behavior.

Now knowing this, knowing the Jews past and how inbred and their constant hatred, far more than you people could understand, for anyone not Jewish, then the idea that they did this is a no brainer.

PS
Mod. - just to make this explicit: Your method is to look at things at an ultra smalll scale which serve your attempt to blow them up to trends that shape the Chinese society, politics and future.
One methodological thing: Society and politics are not the same.
Then you say the Chinese experience is so formative/decisive, that - given Donald Trump were still in power as president, he might read the Chinese story and come to the same conclusions as you do, resulting in a zero-immigration politics.
Along your way, you collect an enormous amount of ifs. These ifs put enourmous pressure on your conclusions. - Like, millions of rock-solid tons per square millimeter (or inches or feet) of your equations.

PS: JimBobLa, you bring up a good point. Do they really care if they clear the rolls of the elderly in that overpopulated country? ("Sweeping out the closet"/"found treasure", as you write it.). It's not right, but it'd be a benefit for their demographics and economy.*

Then, if the CCP and company don't mind this happening, why exactly are they implementing these measures again? That'd still make it stupid.

* OTOH, inflation has wiped out lots of those lifetime social benefits too - that just puts more of a burden on the young.

PS: "I'm pretty sure they're just fucking with us now.". I think you're right, Mr. Smith. Just to be sure, though, I will make sure to enter into my implanted microchip that any stool transplants must be from the unvaxxed.

Thanks, Dieter. The testing sites are where big trouble could start most easily. When your whole apartment building is locked at the entrance, it's hard to protest except by yelling out the windows.

It's one thing to have had enough and fly off the handle (rightly, I'll add). It's another thing to denounce Xi and the CCP. Those Chinese people are brave to do that. That's probably what's scaring those in Authoritah.

PS Why should any government care that X% of their population (especially the elderly) will die from some whatever-they-want-to call-it. They should be ecstatic at the prospect. Let’s euphemistically call it sweeping out the closet. It would be like found treasure. So when something doesn’t make sense it just means that it is not being looked at correctly. So we can set aside that all this has anything to do with a virus. Everything else will be speculation. None of which points to anything other than of a malevolent nature. Government at it’s best.

PS: Oops, forgot. I gave her 3 singles. It was just plain weird. The manager asked me how much the thing costs, and I pointed up to the menu and told him that he was indeed the manager, so ... Then, he didn't want to work out the change either - too stressful - so he gave me a buck back. I put the 7 cents in the box for orphans (I usually put all the change there), and I should have put the buck he gave me in there too.

It was sad. Dieter and Alarmist, have you seen anything like that in Europe. I'm guessing not. I HOPE not.

PS: WGtN, thanks for the comment. I've heard that George Soros has influence even into China. He wants Pooh Bear to stay in business over there, as a model of how you do Totalitarianism right.

At this point, if this hell keeps being raised by the Chinese population, I could very well see that fake dastardly strain coming.

Hmmm, I haven't looked at my money so closely, except to note that I got cheated 2 times in a row at the same Wendys - just for one Frostie. The first time seemed purposeful (she counted the bills twice and then still gave me one less) with the right coins. The 2nd time was a case of a "no arithmetic zone" having been declared apparently. This included the manager, a big fat white guy with tattoos all up his arms. The black girl had given me 7 cents as change for $2.29 + tax. Tax isn't THAT high, so she just though, like Paul Newman in "Cool Hand Luke", that 7 cents sounded like a good round number.

Idiocracy was not a 500 year process. I'm thinking 25 max.

PS Xi probably fears out of control rioting or being overthrown by this point.
Enemedia Bolsheviks everywhere will cover with no Tiananmen Square optics.
Or is it destabilization payback?
He didn't declare himself lifetime dictator just for laughs.
Look for an extra most dastardly strain to be hyped up.
Same thing for the former USA.

O/T-Fake five and one found today from change at the Dollar 25 store.
Another way to destabilize.
