It sounds really weird, but with apps and the net, somebody probably will try to somehow develop a "shared economy", now called crowdsourcing app for eating out. Who knows? One thing about the apps is, you can't get out of taxes and the giving out of private information.

That's one reason I still hesitate to do Uber myself - I've ridden many times - I just don't want all my info out there. I've got a post coming about a trip (yet again immigration-invasion-related) in which I'll note that we used Uber, but we didn't really. Cut out the middle man.)

PS: Alarmist, along those lines, I'm a big, big believer in reimbursement and per diem. That's a way to keep the IRS, SS, State, etc. out of the picture. Were I to have a small business now, that'd be my modus operandi:

Yes, the hourly rates are not so high. However, we reimburse you for EVERYTHING. Yes, shoes wear out quickly, and there's our dress code. That's $200/month for clothing reimbursement. Then, there's your commute in. We're better than the US Gov't at $3.95/mile - gas is up, car part break a lot ... Oh, and we're outside of town, so we pay you per diem to for every hour*.


* Unfortunately, I do know the rule that unless you stay overnight, the per diem is taxed too, dangit!

PS: Hello, Mr. Anon - sorry for the nearly day late reply. I wonder if those who are duplicitous like this, with the examples you give, KNOW that they are being duplicitous. Do they see that grrlll power with those women cops is silly and see that they are not happy being in this role? How about the lady cop herself here? There is all kinds of moral-hazard potential (if that's the expression I want) with Tipping itself, even when taxed. But if you remove taxes, it turbocharges the moral hazard.

You know that huge numbers would try to dodge taxes by reclassifying salaries/wages as "tips," to any extent possible. Since the got needs x-billion in funds, the loss to the new rise in "tips" would be increased on the suckers out there still earning "wages."

Then, if the IRS specifies it only applies to x, y, z categories, it's explicit favoritism to a specific constituency, or demagoguery at its mass-democratic worst, i.e., a pitch for a wealth-transfer to buy votes. Vote for me and I'll redirect net public-monies to your benefit.

PS: Mr. Hail, that's pretty good. I could comment on it in a post here. I think the things Trump has said, both in '16 and '24 are often a bunch of BS, bluster, and pandering. He's also mentioned deportations a lot this time - of course, it's more necessary this time.

The video really needs to be played at slow speed, 0.5x or even 0.25x, to see exactly what happened. At first viewing, I thought the woman may have tripped on a bottle-cap and fallen amidst the chaos.

At slower speed, you see the ease with which the blue-masked White man knocked the lady-cop down. With a kick that had hardly any force to it; kicked very nearly from a standing position.
