Good Genes v Bad Genes: The media brewhaha and a Meme

Continued from Sweeney's Bod and Sweeney's Bod - further comments. You may not see the end of Miss Sweeney, I mean she's still got her Jeans On, but here on Peak Stupidity this series on this now most famous of glamour models (not sure about Cosmo) will go err, tits up.

The big brewhaha regarding the politically titillating ad campaign is not just about a blow against the wokeness of ugly glamour models but also about genes and how they express themselves. First, here's our Jean/Gene memeL

We occasionally get Ducks Unlimited delivered to our mailbox. [What in the hel...? - Ed] Don't worry, Editor,= we'll weave back to the subject. Yes, I've been in a deer stand before, never shot one, but we've got nothing against hunting here at Peak Stupidity. However, the magazine is meant for a guy who lived in this place 2 decades ago. Well, it comes only a few times a year and the company sends billing envelopes too, so they're not completely stupid, as Big Biz seems to be getting... but I'm not forwarding anything either! The guy still owes me money.

Back in the day, it was Cosmo magazine that came every month when I was a lot younger. (No, I have no idea ... can't remember who it was addressed to...) Those hotties on the covers and in their ads for glamorous underclothing made for some intense, errr, reading. It's come back now, to another address of ours. In fact, I'd ripped off one cover before trashing an issue to scan for a post, but this'll cover it. The Black! lady on the cover was not fat, but she was wearing some kind of fool outfit, and it was all too dark to make out her shape even. At this stage in its and my life, Cosmo is not even worth opening to scratch and sniff anything. (Perfume ads, OK??)

This Sydney Sweeney blue jeans ad campaign is not JUST about feeling it's OK to feature a blonde blue-eyed White woman in great shape. That's new again, but that's not all it is. The double meaning based on the un-captioned homophones "Jeans" or "Genes" is much more of a threat to the ctrl-left Woke enforcers. What are you trying to imply, racists, that hot Sidney looks good not just because of those jeans but because of her genes? That's where the Nazi talk comes from.

Let me say that Steve Sailer really ought to write more about this in vindication of his many years of writing about HBD. Though there was a "thaw" in the environment of genetic discussions in the late 1990s or so (per VDare), the winter of their discontent came on hard. It started with the enforced denial that human genes could possibly influence intelligence. (In dogs and cats, sure, but NOT PEOPLE!) Because one can simply reason from other human traits where genes are involved much more than nurture, it's been basically unacceptable to admit that genes express themselves, in genetics parlance, very much at all in humans. ("Yeah, that basketball star can jump high 'cause he's black, but that ain't got nuthin' to do with his genes.")

So, yeah, the Woke ctrl-left want to put the kibosh on this "genes" talk. They know what the commercials are getting at. The alt-right does too, and they are LUVIN' IT. However, I've been noticing that in this viral parody video of the anger of the left and in other discussion, the right has pretended that they know nothing. "Look at them get so upset about the hot busty blonde! It's about blue jeans, come on!"

I know that these people of the alt-right know it's about more than that, so why pretend? Is it a kind of trolling, trying to get the ctrl-left to say what the bigger problem is than just the cute White chick? I think we should take this opportunity to go all out and tell them "Yes, genes express themselves in humans too, and the expression is good in this one."

Sydney Sweeney's genes express themselves here... and get a little fresh air too...

"Hey, look up. We're not talkin' to you."

I either haven't seen it or have not noticed it either, Adam. That makes sense, using them as markers.

Yes. You are correct. Both the PS software and the browsers strip out the backslashes. As you say, they do this because the urls are originally based on a unix file system so this is a sort of artifact (for lack of a better term right now)(after 1 am, getting sleepy) that was written into the backbone of the interwebs and modern web browsers.

PS: OK, I watched all the Sydney Sweeney videos - at the shooting range and doing the beautiful vehicle restorations. It's fun to watch her, of course. I'm glad to see she's involved in hobbies that mostly are filled with Conservatives. (Plus, she likes to be seen, whether it's working on the rear end or whatever.)

However, she's 28 y/o now. I sincerely hope that a woman that pretty will make good use of her body, going very much along with the whole jeans, errr, genes thing.

Yes, of course she's hot enough, not to mention the money, to be able to attract plenty of guys at 35 y/o, and well past 40. That's not good enough though. She ought to start having babies within the next 3-4 years, or it WILL get much tougher. I suppose she thinks money can solve everything, such as helping her have a baby whenever. Nah, start soon, Sydney Sweeney, at least after this ad campaign since I think the whole company has blown its wad, so to speak...

Well, if she's a Conservative, she may understand all this, and failing that, may at least listen to her Mom and Dad who should understand all this.

Were I to ever look at the "People" magazine website, probably not agonna happen, I want to see "Sydney Sweeney had twins! 5 things you need to know about this." soon in their headlines.

PS: Adam, where'd that original link with both up and down slashes in it come from? I can see where not just the PS software for comments but the browsers themselves might strip off all the down slashes. They mean something regarding disk drives, as I recall - I mean that they did have a place in URLs or at least "paths" to directories in the old DOS and Unix etc.

If you strip the down slashed out, the URL makes sense.

PS: I see what you are getting at Mr. Hail. There's no way to return to the pre-Woke mindset for anyone who remembers, because we all know and remember what kind of sick things were were told to believe (or act like we believe)

The goal now is to flood the culture with rebellious moves like this one, so that the ctrl-left will not be able rejuvenate wokeness. Maybe for some people it's just a fad to join. They'll LIKE and FOLLOW and all that on anti-Social media until something else gets their attention. I hope any attempt to rejuvenate this same program of the cultural revolution will result in media campaigns that will be seen as stupid at that point by all.

I do agree that many Conservatives just love to have brown allies on their side to prove that they are not somehow the bad guys. They don't have enough confidence.

To see how it's done, they need to watch more Alex Stein 99. Ever seen that guy? I posted a video of him way back during the CoronaPanic, but I've gotten back into some of his videos.

PS

I think what I have in mind might be phrased like this:

The answer to "Wokeness" is not a gimmicky "anti-Wokeness," but a firm non-Wokeness.

I'm not making the argument that the Jeans/Genes ad is gimmicky anti-Wokeness (a term I've just made up anyway, so the definition is up for grabs), but stating the principle. In the pre-Wokeness period, you didn't have (need) people signaling messages like this. That ought to be the goal.

The risk of a gimmicky anti-Wokeness is that it can pass in and out, like any fad. If people say and do things just to get a rise out of people, this is a seeping into normal-reality of the worst of social media.

And if anti-Wokeness is a fad, meaning a trend or an idea or set of ideas or postures, it can also be adopted by anyone and used.

And here come the anti-Woke Based Brown Guys, assuring you they're on our side; just look at this list of bullet-points they assure you they agree with, and watch them make cool anti-Woke one-liners to outrage the other team. They are great! Ramaswamy-2026 for Governor!

PS: "What do I mean by Anti-Wokeness being the new Wokeness. I mean people thinking Wokeness is uncool and want to signal Anti-Wokeness, but on similar motivations as peopled signalled Wokeness in the late 2010s and early 2020s."

To me, it's great that the young people have woken up, (pun or not at this point?) and have the guts to fight this stuff. Granted, the more others get on the bandwagon, the less courage it takes to join in. Is it still virtue-signaling in this direction?

I gotta go, but I'll write more later this morning...

PS

"The double meaning based on the un-captioned homophones "Jeans" or "Genes" is much more of a threat to the ctrl-left Woke enforcers."

It's possible that we've ben seeing a lot of signs that Anti-Wokeness being the new Wokeness. Sometimes these are more obvious or readily recognizable than others. This one people have latched onto, but it's also not, I'd argue, a one-off.

What do I mean by Anti-Wokeness being the new Wokeness. I mean people thinking Wokeness is uncool and want to signal Anti-Wokeness, but on similar motivations as peopled signalled Wokeness in the late 2010s and early 2020s.

In other words, it's about stirring controversy to get attention and cashing in status-points. Or cashing in literal money from customers, I suppose; psychologically, it's often not monetized directly and exists on a different plane than dollars and cents.

In an "Anti-Wokeness as the New Wokeness" 'paradigm', it's not enough to put a White-female model in an ad but politicized insinuations have to be made. There are apparently a number of other ads like this now, including the July 2025 Dunkin Donuts ad in which the punchline is "Golden Summer," with a White male speaking to camera saying his "genetic analysis" proves he is "golden" and worthy of consuming Dunkin summer-themed products.

This is all a commodification of Anti-Wokeness, and it can be seen far beyond mere commercials. It's a commodified-politiczation of White-normality. This can be argued to be as unhealthy as Wokeness, even if we prefer the Anti-Wokeness version.
