The continuing saga of former Congressman, California Gubernatorial (like, for Governor) candidate, and a great fit with nary a stage name required, for a gay porn movie, Eric Swalwell had been told in a couple of dozen posts in
No, that's not really the problem... or California would have had no Governors since.... Ronald Reagan? Peak Stupidity and Unz Review commenter E.H. Hail set the record straight there:
People are saying the D-Team wanted to shut down one of the major D candidates so as to consolidate the D vote.Very good summary, Mr. Hail. I agree. The people of the ctrl-left think strategy and tactics, not principles. Conservatives should envy the way the ctrl-left does things, but we don't think this way.
In the California governor primary, everyone’s in it together. Like those presidential voting systems with two rounds, like France’s (1sr round with everybody from big-tent centrists, to Marxist-Leninist Revolution Party, to LaRouche Movement guy, to Animal Supremacism Party girl, and all in between; then a 2nd round with the top two only).
Some smart D-Team money (probably aligned with Israel) didn’t like the odds of the D-Team ending up like the Three Stooges, getting stuck trying to all go through an open door at the same time. If the D vote split enough ways, two R’s could be No.1 and No.2.
They had to axe somebody. They sent out the memo: “ATTN loyal D-Teamers. There shall be a joint political assassination, on such-and-such a date, against the sole Non-Jewish White heterosexual male in the field.” It happened remarkably swiftly, efficiently.

Yeah, right, what's in the water? Are you that gullible?
As I informed Mr. Hail, Eric Swalwell is just the first. I know I've read about this broad Katie Porter before, likely on The Gateway Pundit, and she is a real ctrl-lefty piece of work - that's about all I remember, as what she actually did or said per the article was probably too stupid to stomach.
I guess, just to be sure they've got this '26 election covered and could not possibly democratically end up with a Republican Governor, the California Powers-That-Be are bringing up some very bad skeletons from Mrs. Porter’s past, such as that she once poured a pot of hot potatoes* on her husband.
Now, the Gateway Pundit writers are oblivious to what's really happening. They just go with this stuff:
Porter has faced longstanding allegations stemming from a contentious divorce with her ex-husband, Matt Hoffman.Ha, my good friend was just commenting on this very style of stupidity here. She did not divorce her ex-husband - you CAN'T! This potato-dumping Hoffman guy WAS her husband till... they got divorced! (The writer is one Gregory Lyakhov - he looks like a geek in his picture, so this should not be happening.) OK, moving on to the, like, story and all:
However, the situation remains disputed. Hoffman himself later stated to Fox News Digital that he did not recant the allegations, directly contradicting claims made by Porter’s campaign.A contentious divorce, ya' don't say? This happens even to people who aren't running for Governor of California. Let me get back to the potatos (You spell it "potatoes", I spell it "potatos"):
The legal battle between the two included competing restraining orders, police involvement, and a broader dispute over custody and conduct during their separation. Ultimately, the case unfolded in the context of a highly contentious divorce, with both parties accusing each other of abusive behavior.
Among the most widely cited claims were that Porter allegedly dumped a boiling pot of potatoes on him during an argument and shattered household items in a way that caused injury.I don't discount scalding 3rd degree burns, and this explains why I buy my potatoes already mashed, albeit at about 50x the price, from Bojangles. (Yeah, I used to even buy them from the grocery in a box.) This next part of the GP article is just weird:
People make allegations against each other after messy divorces quite often, but if Hoffman, Porter’s ex-husband, was lying, it would not add up. Specific stories, like a boiling pot of potatoes, are much harder to fabricate and consistently maintain than general claims. At the same time, they would still be difficult to definitively prove. Thanks, Mr. Jordan Peterson Rockford. but I could have made up a better story than that even. "She threw the cat in my face!", I dunno. I probably would have folded under pressure during cross-examination anyway: "Yes, OK, it was Campbells Bean & Bacon soup! I lied, because I'm supposed to be keeping my sodium under control!"
Anyway, this was all 13 years ago. You don't have to be a detective to see the fishiness here. Just along with the sex-filled, yet somehow still sordid, story of Eric Swalwell, it's not a coincidence that this is all coming out into public view this month, and out of a dozen million Californians who've done worse, just happens to have involved two Democratic contenders for the Governorship.
Let's get back to the lurid Swalwell case. There's something about his having had an affair with one Fang Fang** - last name withheld, apparently, for privacy reasons... because... she's a honeypot spy out of China, they say. The name Fang Fang has appeared in the news so many times, that you'd think a guy would remember it and imagine himself on a date with James O'Keefe - see Peak Stupidity's advice to the ctrl-left: OMG, stupid!. It's not just that she's a spy, but there's just been too much honey made already - not sure I'd want to pollinate that particular flower. Regarding this affair, another Unz Review frequent commenter, one J. Ross, explained the story thusly:
So let me get this straight. If you become an intelligence asset for the Chinese government, you retain your office and your seat on the freaking intelligence committee. If you bang a hooker who is NOT a spy, your life is over. Do I have that right? That was great! Here's the official meme, for the record:

Of course, what man in his right mind would not at some point do an internet search for "Fang Fang bikini pictures"? You've got to know how serious the CCP is with these tactics. I found the following, although she goes by Rong Fang now. Wrong Fang? Probably.

Yeah, see, this is why you've gotta watch it. If this woman asked me while in bed, I'm guessing I'd tell her all about what goes on at the State Department, not like that's gonna help the CCP any, but... whewww,... I mean, I could see myself calling my buddy who knows the nuclear launch codes, unasked, just to be nice. She's pretty hot. I get this whole honeypot idea now. It just might work!
Now, as the Gateway Pundit had headline after headline about the sudden untimely revelations about Eric Swalwell, I came upon one today.

These things swing too far. The scorned staffers who didn't get any, and the Feminazis who've now understood it's OK to go after this guy have him leaving the whole Congress. It's not like California politicians will appoint a Republican to the seat, so, what's the difference? It's a win/win for the ctrl-left.
Another thing I've mentioned before is the the ctrl-left takes care of its own. They'll finish up with the Governor race, and then you'll see this guy reappear in good graces. It might take a couple of years, but he'll be back in some office, or worst case, a talking head on national TV.
Just keep away from Fang Fang and any other hot potatoes!
* I do feel for former Vice President Dan Quayle about the spelling of "potatoes". It's NOT intuitive. Import MOAR Indian spelling bee champions!
** No relation to Wang Fang or Wang Chung either, for that matter.

PS: It works for me, Mr. Hail (and Mr. Smith, of course). Looks fine on this device/browser on TUR.
BTW, I see you’ve got a lot to say about the Swalwell Stupidity. I agree. The Gateway Pundit has become Swalwell Central lately - just ridiculous, as if, either they bought into the “importance” of these “brutal accusations”, or Mr. Hoft is just a drama queen.

Ahaaa, but then how come you come on there for a few weeks then are not seen for a month or more? I've been wondering about this, Mr. Hail.

I didn't know this lady Jeri, but I do remember that whole deal though, Alarmist. "We've got orders to get this one guy, Obama, on the fast track, so you've got to... " "Wait, O who? ba?" "Obama Hussein something ... you gotta get something on this Ryan guy, STAT!"

PS: One weather site I just checked showed no lows lower than 42 C in Dahlonega, but then 2 things: You're up higher than the weather station at the college(?) - it's on average a drop of 3 1/2 F for every thousand ft up, but also, that's next Monday, and they've really got no idea about the weather next Monday!
I'd better not suggest anything regarding your tomatos then - you've been there a long time.

I have been the opposite: I am zero'ing in on joining the Million-Word Club for Sailer commenters on Unz. I foresaw hitting 1,000,000 by the time of the 6-month anniversary of the unfortunate death of The Germ Theory of Disease (real name: D. Some portion of my 998,000 words are elsewhere than on the Sailer threads across the Unz site. And a large portion are not my own words but quotations from elsewhere. But a large majority of all that activity is definitely on the Sailer threads. Past and present, I have generally only gone to Unz for the Sailer Community.

The Porter story reminds me of the rise of Mr. Obama, whose machine managed to get his rival’s sealed divorce records unsealed (dude was the former abusive hubby of Star Trek’s Seven of Nine, Jeri Ryan), trashing him and opening the door to Senator cum US President Obama.
Amazing indeed how the Dems roll.

PS: Good morning, Mr. Hail!
It's been a while. I hope you're well. (All is well here. Just hiding out on the mountain trying to not pay too much attention to the insanity of the world while I tend to my garden.) (Also, I'm planning to get my galvanic grounding rods out and maybe build a so-called "ambient power module" to harvest electricity from the soil/atmosphere. It's one of my long neglected hobbies and I have a few new ideas.)
(Check this out...)

Yeah, that "ascii art" (Hail.jpg) is how I "prepped" your color avatar (basically by stripping out the color) so that I could convert it to PS dot art for the comment window. (It didn't convert well when I tried it in color.)
Anyway... I'm going to take my baby tomatoes outside so they can enjoy the sun. (I would plant them but I'm afraid that if I do we will get one last frost.) And I think today is the day I take the old Honda lawnmower apart. Unfortunately, the self propulsion quit working the other day so it's time to fix that.
I hope you have a great day, Mr. Hail! ☮️

I put up an expanded version of my comments on the Swalwell political-assassination here.

It includes what I think is a useful table (list of average polling support of all the candidates) to understand why they did it. The reason is graspable at a glance as long as you know it's a free-for-all primary and only the top two get through.

And good morning, Achmed...

42 Celsius‽ Wowzers! I guess it's a good thing I put that air conditioner in the other day. 😉

Well, ackshually, they say the weather station at UNG is at an elevation of 1532. Which is, oddly enough, the same elevation of our house on the Lumpkin county tax assessors topographical map. (There is a sign at the end of the driveway, by the scenic overlook, that says the elevation is 1692 ft. Where they came up with that number? I have no idea.) In any case, we are about 200 feet higher than the neighbors at the base of the mountain and about 100 feet higher than downtown Dahlonega.
The thing is, and it seems counter intuitive to me, is that they are more likely to have a frost/freeze in low lying areas even though the daffodils come out a sooner in such places. For example, I know of a few spots right here on the mountain where I can cut flowering daffodils for Mrs. Smith on Valentine's day. Our daffodils, on the other hand, have not yet flowered this season. Which seems odd to me. Usually our daffodils flower like a month after the daffodils at the base of the mountain. 🤔
There are many days in the winter when when we have no frost, but there is frost in some of the lower lying areas. Sometimes there is frost just halfway down the mountain but none here at the house. (There are a couple nearby places in particular that I know of that frost many more times in the winter than we do.) Some people say the wind helps keep the frost away. (And we do get plenty of wind.) Perhaps we get less frost because heat rises? But who knows. (Mountains are funny like that.)

While it would seem like it is ok (or even a good idea) to plant tomatoes, especially since we are enjoying highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 50s (and even lower 60s) all week, it is most likely best to wait. (Mrs. Smith is confident that we will not have another frost/freeze this year because the crepe myrtle has broken dormancy. But, it can still happen even though she is probably right.)
The other thing is, even if we don't have a frost/freeze, the baby tomatoes really wouldn't prefer night time temps in the 40° zone. (Accuweather says we have a couple nights in the low 40s coming up. But, as you say, that's like a week out so who knows...) And the other other thing is that there have been some years where we got over exuberant in the spring and we had all our tomatoes planted before May thinking we were getting a good early start to the season. But then the tomatoes didn't really thrive because of low night time temps and/or heavy rains causing extra moisture. (Too much moisture can equal fungus/mildew.)
As much as I would like to plant them now I will wait. (I did plant about 40 or 50 more snow peas the other day. And I can spend a little time pampering some other things like the horseradish that came up or the new rosemary plants I started last week.)

Mr. Hail,

As you can see, part of the hail dot art was cut off in the unz comment window on my computer. (Is it a browser thing? Is it a screen resolution thing? Is this universal for everyone reading a comment on unz? I don't know.)
So, I posted a little smaller image that fits well on my screen...

I generally try to keep the graphics about as large as I can without running outside the comment window because I've noticed that smaller images (generally) tend to lose some of the detail.
So yeah....
That's about all I have for now.
Gotta go run some errands around town.
I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon and/or evening.
Cheers! ☮️
