That's what I saw near the top of the screen after a google search on "Peak Stupidity" just now. I get to my site this way, via a handful of search sites and from different places or devices, purposely to bring us to the TOP. We are above the image shown, thankfully, but google users might mistakenly think that its AI is somehow helpful.
First I thought that "Menstrual Classes + Mass Deportations = Peak Stupidity" might very well be AI's quick take on our site. Not bad, I guess, as we have mentioned menstruation as applied to men* - after all, you can't spell "menstruation" without "men",
... but, no, it's clear the links goes to the Washington Monthly. Menstrual Classes + Mass Deportations = Peak Stupidity . "They've stolen our material!" was my next thought, so I clicked to see...
... Oh, no, this is not my beautiful material. Like Tampon Timmah of Minnesota, they've taken what is funny and made it serious. "If the Trump administration were genuinely concerned about America’s declining population, it would embrace immigration instead of pursuing half-baked ideas to increase birth rates." is the sub-headline. Now, I've got to go and fisk the whole thing!
Policy experts and advocates of boosting the birthrate have been meeting with White House aides, sometimes handing over written proposals on ways to help or convince women to have more babies,” reported The New York Times. Among the ideas circulating are a quota for the share of Fulbright scholarships awarded to parents and federal funding for programs that “educate women on their menstrual cycles” to “teach them when they’re able to conceive.”Perhaps we SHOULD let their Moms teach them, or let 'em figure it out themselves -see Oregon enacts "Carrie's Law", which was, sorry Bill Scher of the Washington Monthly, an expose of stupidity.
Exactly which of these “pronatalist” policies President Donald Trump will embrace is not known, but he is a receptive audience, having pledged as a candidate to “support baby booms.” Similarly, in his first speech as Vice President, J.D. Vance told an anti-abortion rally, “I want more babies in the United States of America” (as if we didn’t already know that after Vance’s open disdain for “childless cat ladies” was uncovered in the 2024 campaign.)Yes, well, I mean, you can't say it out loud unless you're Donald Trump, lest you get vilified on Johnny Carson, but it's White or at least American (of some sort) babies Vance is talking about.
It's hard to believe this guy doesn't get that basic point. Immigration is REPLACING the American population - we're trying to REPLENISH it.
The baby-making push is overtly sold not as a dystopian Handmaid’s Tale-esque plan to shunt women out of the workplace and back into the kitchen, even though, as a separate Times dispatch from a recent pronatalist conference noted, their movement has embraced “misogynists calling for a return to traditional gender roles.”Damn misogynists, wanting women to live like women! They got a lotta nerve...
As the Congressional Budget Office detailed last year, in its 30-year population projections, “Over the next decade, immigration accounts for about 70 percent of the overall increase in the population, and the greater number of births than deaths accounts for the remaining 30 percent. After 2034, net immigration increasingly drives population growth, accounting for all population growth beginning in 2040.” Those projections would not hold if Trump’s mass deportation regime remained in place.Yes, that's the point!
In the rest of this, the writer goes off into the weeds - it's not fiskable, per se, but then at the end:
So, put me down as skeptical that Trump and his pro-natalist allies are serious about effective policymaking to increase America’s population. They are far more serious about dehumanizing and deporting immigrants and promoting sexist stereotypes about the role of women in society. You know... Americans might have bigger families for THEMSELVES, aka, more Americans, without any worthless Government programs if the country weren't always getting more crowded, with more expensive housing, immigrants competing for jobs and reducing prevailing wages, immigrants mooching off and cheating on the Welfare system supported by their taxes...
... I just got 'em done, speaking of taxes - opened up a brand new bank account for the tax refund coming, because the IRS won't send paper checks anymore and wants to do direct deposit. Sure, I trust you, men and women of the IRS. As soon as the money is in there, I'll close the account. If they can put it in, they can take it out.
I had another post to write that I'll get to tomorrow. I'm not at all happy about google's Artificial Stupidity steering people not just wrong, but 180 degrees off course. We'll set you straight here. Good night.
* We were WAY, WAY ahead of Tampon Timmah Walz in this matter. He stole our idea, but then he reverse-engineered it ass-backwards.
