Saturday night she was downtown
working for the CCP,
sitting in a nest of bad ren
gotta a little sore on her knee...
Peak Stupidity has been writing about the Chinese industrial and military spying within the US for years. That recent Eric Swalwell story is nothing new to us and nothing new for America. (I just happen to enjoy the name Fang Fang is all - that honey pot's been around for a long while.)
Now, rather than only the engineer/scientist types who have no business working in, much less dominating the work force, in academic research and the national labs, we have Chinese Mayors and other government officials running Chinese, that is CCP, propaganda operations. We call it SinoProp. I can tell the anonymous strangely-American-handled commenters on comment threads, but we've got city Mayors now doing this work too.
ZeroHedge reported today California Mayor Indicted, Will Plead Guilty To Being CCP Agent. The city is Arcadia, one of the hundreds of cities in greater "LA", that is Los Angeles, Orange, and portions of Riverside and other counties that make up the whole shebang. This is a city I have heard of, even back in the 1980s. I knew a Chinese guy from Monterrey Park, just 5 miles east of downtown LA. Even back in those years he told me how the place was a big Chinese haven in the LA basin. I just looked it up, and found it was about 1/3 Chinese then and has leveled out to 2/3 Chinese during this century. Here are the people running the place:
• Mayor Elizabeth YangThey've got one Vietnamese guy, I don't know about Henry Lo, and that token Hispanic on the city council... wait, what? Yes, it's Chinese run.
• Mayor Pro Tem Henry Lo
• City council Vinh T. Ngo
Jose Sanchez
Thomas Wong
• City Manage Inez Alvarez (Interim) [Oh, no - Hispanic women trying to run things - bad deal!] • Assistant City Manager. Diana Garcia (Interim)
Arcadia is 8 miles or so northeast, just to the south of the San Gabriels, and it is also 2/3 "Asian". I really wish they would split up the Oriental and Indian counts, as they are both large contingents of the mass immigration. In this case, I will assume most are Chinese. Here are the people running the place:
• Mayor VacantWTH kinda name is Lazzaretto? "Why, that's City Manager Lazzaretto's name, Sir." [/Catch 22] He might be the only one of them resembling an old-time American.
• Mayor Pro Tem Paul P. Cheng
• City Council
Michael Cao
David Fu
Sharon Kwan
• City Manager. Dominic Lazzaretto
Note the vacancy. Yes, wiki is very current here, as CCP SinoPropista Eileen Wang is no longer Mayor. She won't be able to be Mayor again for 5 to 10 years. From ZH:
In a significant development announced today by the U.S. Department of Justice, Arcadia, California Mayor Eileen Wang has been charged with one count of acting in the United States as an illegal agent of a foreign government - the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Wang, 58, has agreed to plead guilty to the felony, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. She resigned from her position as mayor and Arcadia City Council member this afternoon following the unsealing of the case.Hey, it's not funny. Some people, cough, Ron Unz, cough, cough, fall for his stuff!
According to court filings and the DOJ’s Central District of California announcement, Wang and her former fiancé, Yaoning "Mike" Sun, operated the U.S. News Center, a website that presented itself as a news source for the local Chinese-American community. From late 2020 through 2022, they received and executed directives from PRC government officials - primarily via WeChat - to post pro-PRC propaganda. Examples include publishing pre-written articles denying forced labor or genocide in Xinjiang, editing content at the direction of Chinese officials, and sharing view counts and links in coordinated group chats. PRC officials reportedly praised the speed and effectiveness of the posts, with messages such as "So fast, thank you everyone" and "Great!"
As you can see, Miss Wang is not the Wang of Ted Nugent's Wang Dang, Sweet Poontang fame. She is no Honey Pot, so she must be content to cook a mean Hot Pot and rake in those CCP payments. Kash Patel has done some work here, a drop in the bucket, of course, but to discourage the others? I doubt they're really discouraged yet.
Why let it get this far, such that a city Mayor is working for China? I wonder about Boston Mayor Michelle Wu too. She was kind of cute and could have been a Honey Pot back in her day. Was she? Has she just assimilated to American Communism, or does she have a soft spot for the folks in the old country? Does it matter?
I'm gonna do something odd and reverse the bolding in the excerpt (same ZH article) below:
While we can't imagine there are any American mayors of Chinese cities - U.S. intelligence agencies have long warned that the CCP employs sophisticated, long-term influence operations to shape narratives, gather political intelligence, and cultivate relationships with American elites - especially in states with large Chinese-American populations such as California.A commenter pointed this out too. No, we certainly can't imagine that. That would be stupid of the Chinese people. It's not that there's this one Chinese Mayor of a city of 56,000 people. The stupidity is that you take in so many people that big enclaves of unassimilated foreigners grow, basically, foreign, countries within this nation. Of course they'll elect one of their own. He, or she in this case, won't likely be working for America. Eileen Wang, with help from ex-squeeze Yaoning "Bill" Sun have been working for the CCP.
I've got a lot of posts on deck, and what's trending here on Peak Stupidity is some kind of China week.
We'll have to put some music in here, as there's a battle for Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, Wang Dang, Sweet Poontang, and (as always!) Everybody Wang Chung Tonight in my head. Nope, they've all been heard before here, so how about Workin' for MCA from the days of Southern Rock?
I had to choose here between showing Lynyrd Skynyrd live or having a better sound off the album (Second Helping or the greatest hits Gold and Platinum). I'll go with the live version so readers can see how the country was a half century ago. All the band had to worry about was those Yankee slickers trying to con them into a contract... well, and sadly, one POS airplane.
Skynyrd in 1974:
Ronnie Van Zant – lead vocals
Gary Rossington – guitar
Allen Collins – guitar
Ed King – guitar, backing vocals
Leon Wilkeson – bass, backing vocals
Bob Burns – drums
Billy Powell – keyboards
This was before Steve and Cassie Gaines and drummer Artimus Pyle. Note that they had 3 guitarists. Playing lots of guitars was part of Southern Rock.

PS: "Wang Dang Doodle?"
I was not familiar with it, but the www says it's an old blues standard by Willy Dixon. I will go and listen to it. Thanks.

OK, it's decent but not a great blues number from my first listen - too much of the same, over and over.
Thanks for writing in, Ben. It's sure been a while!

PS: I should add, Mr. Hail, that it was too separate points, one that I had heard of Arcadia - met a guy hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains who gave me his info after we'd talked for half an hour about trails and such. (yes, White guy, of course, cause, hiking, haha!) No, I never got back with him.
The other was about the guy from Monterrey Park.
"What's so bad about this? In general, most Asians are not public-spirited people most of the time, and some can be outright big negatives to the social fabric by undermining public trust and the spirit of "the commons" so central to the way we see the world. When they're present in enough numbers, this will happen."
Indeed that goes along somewhat with my next post, specifically that these Chinese people do appreciate the commons that the White people built, if only subconsciously... but I'll get to that in the post.
"A lot of good commentary came out of the anti-Vivek Ramaswamy backlash when he slammed White culture for not cramming for tests long enough, like he says he did. A lot of the best commentary was to the effect of, This guy doesn't have a clue what White-Western civilization is, what America is, how things work, nothing. He may be high-IQ and transnational and all, but he's mentally a provincial."
Yes, that brought as all to realize some things that Mr. Steve Sailer did write about, probably many years beforehand. I only remember one or two instances of his discussing the Tiger Mom, test-cramming, after-school-schooling business that White people understand is not the best life and maybe not good preparation for life itself... unless you live in, say... China.

No, not Arcadia, but Monterrey Park. Even IT was only 30-something %, but basically, this guy told me he lived among Chinese people.

PS: Yes, the Foodies. I wrote a post about them long ago, with the non necessarily accurate (for all of them) assumption that they are fine with destroying the country, so long as "you can FINALLY find some good Ghanan food in Cedar Rapids!"
"The Stupidity of the Foodies"

Finally to the point, I believe that, though not the primary driver of it, these ever-growing-in-number Foodies are part of the pro-immigration crowd. No, they don't understand that probably Americans could make this same stuff - there is the internet and all with its millions of youtube videos on how to make and do about any damn thing one can thing of. That's no good, I guess. Yes, what I'm saying is that the Foodies care so much about what their next meal out will be, that they are willing to put up with an invasion of the whole 3rd world in order to have enough places to get authentic cuisine. How selfish is this kind of shit?!
This is not some kind of overarching theory of how America got to the sorry state we're in with respect to large-scale immigration. I've already got that pretty much figured out. (This post makes 95 posts with the Immigration Stupidity topic key! Check 'em out.) This is one more reason the Globalist/Elite types do like that high-level diversity, though. They ARE the ones that can fly across the country to stay somewhere mainly to get a meal. "Hey, there are only, like 4 authentic Somalian food sit-down places in all of Fresno. I go there on business twice a year, and, dammit, this won't do! We need to raise quotas and get some more of those hardworking refugees." Just read an airline magazine some time - "Here's the food you can get in Sao Paulo, here's a list of the best Greek restaurants in Auckland, New Zealand." That's the way they are. However, the middle class now eats that stuff up too (pun partially intended).
To hell with these Foodies and their never-ending quest for more exotic people to cook them meals, then import the rest of the family to diversify the town then go on welfare. Could they not just stay inside most nights, brew their own beer, and pull up some cool new recipes off the internet? It'd sure save them some money too, so they could get ahead in life, if that's possible after paying the taxes and other social costs to support all whom they've imported.

School demographics info available online tells us:
Arcadia High School (California)
Asian:White ratio
67:10.
That's a lot higher (more Asian, relatively) than the overall-population rate in the table that I gave in the previous comment. The overall ratio in 2020 is about 47:10.
That's corroboration for what I say re Whites leaving Arcadia is due largely to White families with children choosing to leave to avoid Asians and their ways. It could also mean more Asians with children seek to go to Arcadia. Either way, the cycle pushes on.
The process has played out to almost a comical level in a number of places in Southern California.
What's so bad about this? In general, most Asians are not public-spirited people most of the time, and some can be outright big negatives to the social fabric by undermining public trust and the spirit of "the commons" so central to the way we see the world. When they're present in enough numbers, this will happen.
Asians, as a type, seek to monopolize things, exclude others and bully people to show who's boss (if you can avoid it, never work for an Asian boss), and they blunt the edges of a productive, creative culture due to their well-established culture of group-think.

-- Why did Whites flee Arcadia? --
Arcadia is one of the towns that underwent pretty severe White Flight when it began to be targeted by Asians in the 1980s-90s. The absolute number of Whites went into full retreat, earlier and more severely than the California state average.
I bring this up often: people need to get over thinking of East Asians as harmless, innocent people.
(This also relates directly to a recent Sailer discussion on White Flight From Asians.)

To say Arcadia was known for having lots of Asians back already in the 1980s is not quire right.
As usual, the place was founded and built up by Whites and had a White-supermajority when the 1980s began.
There is just no tradition of having Asians in major numbers there. They chain-migrated in to take advantage of high-functioning White institutions, but, as usual, cannot maintain the same kind of thing to the gold-standard degree we tend to do (the process of Asian group-think, extreme status-competition, and a pervasive culture of low-level scamming undermine civic trust that they found on arrival in the 1980s-90s.
The process of Asians displacing Whites in the place BEGINS some time in the 1980s, but was far from a completed fact. At what point can we say it was basically complete? That's harder to say. The Point of No Return may have been in the early 1990s already...

--- By the early 2000s, the number of Whites resident in Arcadia had dropped to half what it had been in 1980.
A lot of White families that were being established there in the 1970s-90s moved out before their children fully grew up.
--- By the late 1990s, Asians exceed Whites in Arcadia. A mere fifteen or so years earlier, there'd been 20 to 25 Whites for every Asian.
--- Asians reach 3x the White level (all ages and conditions) by around the early 2010s. It's probably today above 4x. Adjusting for core-age people, families with children, I imagine it might approach 10x!
--- On an all-population basis, Arcadia tipped past the TWO-THIRDS Asian mark in the late 2010s (if including part-Asians; or early 2020s if only counting only full-Asians).
Arcadia has effectively had no true "White population" in some time now. The way these things work, those Whites who are still around when the White population drops to levels like one-quarter the original level, when being pushed out by racial newcomers, the Whites still around skew towards old people.
