Stupidity v Evil per Real Clear Politics

Did Steve Sailer know it all the time?

(Thank you, commenter, Alarmist, for the meme!)

Real Clear Politics is a mainstream, GOPe site, from my best recollection. The article described herein leans that way, but it's does a decent job illustrating a point we've been making often. Peak Stupidity posted an article addressing this basic question of Stupidity v Evil as long ago as the Summer of '17 - Stupid vs. Evil and long-term conspiracy theories. Stupidity won that round.

Lately, against the wishes of our Marketing Dept.(they hate springing for new URLs), we've been leaning toward Evil as the winner of the battle of the motivations.

Instapundit linked to the following article today from Real Clear Politics Writer Greg Salsbury: Correctly Understanding the ‘Stupidity’ of the Left. He takes Conservatives to task for calling the people of the ctrl-left various terms for stupid or crazy, but more so, for believing that they are such.
A long list of prominent conservatives have referred to leftists and Democrats as dumb, stupid, incompetent, crazy, and insane. In 2007, Ann Coulter wrote the book “If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans.” Both Rush Limbaugh and President Trump regularly referred to Democrats as “Dumbocrats.” More recently, the leader of the House Freedom Caucus called Democrats “the crazy party,” and JD Vance framed the contrast between the parties as “common sense vs. crazy.” Matt Margolis titled a piece in PJ Media this year “Democrats Are Too Stupid to Heed This Warning,” and posited that somewhere between the 1990s and today, the Democratic Party lost its mind.
We've used a few choice terms ourselves over the years. Mr. Salisbury is right that this narrative, that the ctrl-left is wreaking havoc due to their stupidity, is harmful. We've chastised the great pundit Steve Sailer for thinking assuming the same thing.
Consider a recent interview in which Representative Jim Jordan explained that the left’s open-border policy was part of a shrewd, long-term plan to bring in new Democrat constituents, with sanctuary-city policies as another step in that plan. Yet in the same interview, he called the policy “Just stupid” and “one of the dumbest policies I’ve ever heard of,” and in a later interview, adding, “just about every single position today’s left adopts is crazy.”
Right! The actions of the enemy (let's just call them that, as it'll help us figure this out) are called "boners" and their policies are "irresponsible" and such things. "Border control was done very poorly under Brandon." NO! It was done very well, if your goal is to speed up the Population Replacement Programme, which IS indeed their goal.

As Peak Stupidity has also noted, there ARE plenty of the Useful Idiots. Mr. Salsbury again:
To be clear, there are certainly some dim bulbs among the left – both in leadership and rank and file. Showcase examples include Vice President Kamala Harris, who frequently struggles to articulate coherent sentences; Rep. Hank Johnson, who worried during a congressional hearing that Guam might “tip over and capsize” if it became too populated; Rep. Shelia Jackson, who once referred to herself as a “freed slave” and spoke of “two Vietnams side by side, North and South”; and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who told us that America with defunded police would look just like the wealthy white suburbs. On a broader scale, consider millions of California voters who knowingly continue to vote for politicians whose policies have devastated the Golden State.
These idiots are useful to certain nefarious people and organizations. Someone comes up with the stupid ideas that the idiots push on America for some damn good reasons... if your cause is destruction of society, I mean...
In this light, things like defunding the police, draconian regulations and carbon taxes, mothballing coal and nuclear plants, wide-open borders, turning a blind eye to Medicaid and NGO fraud, supporting genital mutilation of minors, opposing voter ID, massive expansion of entitlement spending, lowering combat readiness standards in the military in the name of gender equality, and support for adversaries like Hamas can be understood not as disconnected examples of incompetence, but as elements of a broader ideological program. If it does damage to America and hastens the great realignment, they support it.
The writer frames the competing motivations as Stupidity vs Strategy. He gives examples*, going back to the Gramscis and Marcuses, but mostly from this century with the possible AntiChrist candidate Øb☭ma. (I really got to lean more toward stupid when it comes to Øb☭ma, but then he's not working on his own.)

Surprisingly, RCP writer Salsbury gets right into the anti-White programs that were set to volume 11 in this century. In his conclusion, Stupid or Strategic? he asks.
We don’t tend to think of stupid people as evil. Perceived stupidity neutralizes perceived intent and, to some degree, perceived blame. “Stupid” is not the word that comes to mind for figures like Stalin, Mao, or Pol Pot, and it would have done us no favors to describe the Axis powers in World War II as merely stupid or crazy.

Calling an adversary’s actions crazy or stupid implies those actions produce an outcome fundamentally different from what their architects intended. But what if the opposite is true? What if the policies are producing precisely the disruption their architects sought?
[My strike-through due to, true, but they should NOT be compared to the Communists.] Finally, at the end of his 3rd-to-last sentence, Greg Salsbury gets to the word Evil.
If conservatives want to understand and effectively challenge the modern left, they should focus less on calling its leaders stupid and more on understanding what they’re trying to accomplish. That leadership may be insidious, duplicitous, destructive, morally wrong, and in some cases evil.
Yes, there is often a strategy, sometimes not, but you need that key word there. There is evil afoot.

Oh, and lot of us already know this. The pundits should try to keep up.

* He happens to include pundit Christopher Rufo in this discussion, who is only a degree or two away from Steve Sailer.

Makes me feel lame for sticking to imgflip.

I use AI to do this sort of thing:

PS: I like 03, but 02 might be cool for a variation on the meme with all 3, me, Steve Sailer, and the DSA guy.

Nice job with the fingers too!

PS: Good afternoon, Achmed!

Yeah, it was a little late, so this is a rough sketch. The book actually isn't difficult. (I resize and rotate the book and paste it in over the hand, then erase the book layer over the fingers to make it look like he's holding the book. Super simple really. I do want to elongate the fingers a little to make it look a little more natural.)

I googled DSA Patch and Democratic Socialists of America Patch and this image came up. So I used it as a place holder if nothing else. This is also an easy fix. Much like the book, resize and rotate and paste it in. If you have a different and better patch or logo in mind I can easily work with it.

The AI really had trouble with everything except zooming out from the astronauts. (I wanted to zoom out so there was a hand where I could put the book. I have another, similar image that would also work, but I was tinkering a bit last night.) The AI utterly failed when trying to put the DSA logo on the uniform and when trying to get the book into the "victim" astronaut's hand. So I did those the old fashioned way.

I plan to do another, more final copy of this. I can do a hammer and sickle and/or a swasticker or what ever. I don't actually know if there are any recognizable DSA logo's for the arm patch or which if any those might be. But I am open to suggestions...

Anyway...

Happy Friday! ☮️

PS: Yes, I can see it was late from the time stamp in MST, Adam.

Great job with the book! I thought that'd be the hardest part. I don't know what the patch is, but I can probably do the rest with something clearly DSA/Communist. OTOH, maybe I should know that symbol and others do.

I can also put in the text, no problem. As always, I appreciate your helpl.
